ENTRY & HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
As of: 24 August 2026 – South Africa: German citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days; a visitor's visa is issued on arrival. The passport must be valid for at least 30 days beyond the planned departure date and have at least two completely blank pages; an identity card is not sufficient. A return or onward ticket may be requested. Children need their own regular passport, and an international birth certificate is strongly recommended, particularly when travelling with only one parent. An online customs declaration on the South African Revenue Service website is currently optional, but this may change at short notice. Botswana: no visa needs to be applied for in advance for tourist stays of up to 90 days; entry permission is issued at the airport. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the departure date and have at least four blank pages. No vaccinations are compulsory when entering directly from Germany; anyone arriving from a yellow fever area, or who was in transit there for more than 12 hours, must show a yellow fever vaccination. Limited baggage allowances apply on the Wilderness Air Cessna 208 flights. Hard-shell cases do not fit on board, so travel with soft bags without a frame. We confirm the exact weight limits at the time of booking.
