Namibia with Wilderness lodges – Sossusvlei, Damaraland and the Kunene by bush plane

Eleven days in Namibia between Sossusvlei, Damaraland and the Kunene. We fly you there by bush plane, not along the gravel road.

We have picked three Wilderness lodges that could hardly lie further apart: Little Kulala in front of the dunes of Sossusvlei, Desert Rhino Camp on the stony plains of Damaraland, and Serra Cafema far north on the Kunene. Between the houses we do not send you for hours along gravel roads but put you in a Wilderness Air Cessna 208. Each of those flights is an experience in its own right. We begin and end your journey at the boutique hotel The Weinberg in Windhoek.

DAY 2

Arrival in Windhoek

After landing we collect you and take you to The Weinberg, a five-star boutique hotel on the edge of the city. The rest of the day is yours: arrive, sleep in, take your first Namibian afternoon slowly.

Cessna 208 von Wilderness Air über den Dünen der Namib
DAY 3

By Cessna to Sossusvlei

Take your time over breakfast, then it is on to Windhoek airport and into the Wilderness Air Cessna 208. It flies you to Sossusvlei, and from there it is only a short transfer to Little Kulala Lodge. In the evening, your first game drive, with oryx antelope at close range.

Heißluftballon über der Wüstenlandschaft bei Sossusvlei
DAY 4

Over the dunes by balloon

If you like, the day begins in a hot air balloon over the dunes. We book that for you in advance. A second game drive in the morning works just as well, as does an e-bike tour or a quad safari through the surrounding area.

Gäste und Guide zu Fuß auf der Spur eines Spitzmaulnashorns
DAY 5

On to Damaraland

After breakfast we take you to the airstrip, on to the airstrip of Desert Rhino Camp and from there into the camp. In the afternoon, your first game drive across the stony plains, on the trail of the rare black rhino.

Zelt des Desert Rhino Camp unter dem Sternenhimmel
DAY 6

Rhinos and a sky without light pollution

The second game drive in the morning. Alongside rhinos you will see desert elephants, zebra, giraffe, oryx, lion and hyena. Keep the evening free for the night sky. There is no artificial light out here, which puts the camp among the most intense places in Africa for it.

Safarifahrzeug auf einer Düne nahe der Serra Cafema Lodge
DAY 7

North to the Kunene

After breakfast we fly you on to Hartmann's Valley airport in the far north, and a transfer takes you to Serra Cafema Lodge. First of all, arrive. In the evening a desert safari is open to you, followed by dinner at the lodge.

Der Kunene zwischen den Bergen an der Grenze zu Angola
DAY 8

Quad bike, boat or nothing at all

After breakfast you have the choice: into the desert by quad bike, or onto the Kunene by boat, where crocodiles and rare bird species come into view. Or you do nothing at all, which is also a plan. After dinner there is again a night sky above you of a kind you will not see in Europe.

DAY 9

Back to Windhoek

After breakfast you fly on to Doro Nawas Lodge, a short stop, then on to Windhoek. We take you back to The Weinberg. Enjoy your last evening in Namibia there.

ENTRY & HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

As of: 24 August 2026 – German citizens require a visa for Namibia, either applied for online in advance as an eVisa or on arrival at the airport (visa on arrival, currently NAD 1,600, around €85). The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after entry and have at least 6 blank pages. A confirmed return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds are also required. For minors under 18, an English-language, internationally certified birth certificate must be presented; if a child travels alone or with only one parent, an official declaration of consent from the other parent is also needed. No vaccinations are compulsory when entering directly from Germany; a yellow fever vaccination must be shown when entering from a yellow fever area. The maximum stay for tourists is 90 days. Limited baggage allowances apply on the Wilderness Air Cessna 208 flights. Hard-shell cases do not fit on board, so travel with soft bags without a frame. We confirm the exact weight limits at the time of booking.

Yes. We book you a VIP lounge from which you're escorted directly to the aircraft, relaxed and without waiting.

How do I check in online for my flight?

For trips with a scheduled flight, this is possible, usually for an additional charge, unless the airline already includes it.

PAYMENT & PROTECTION

How much is the deposit?

Can we bring our children?

We're happy to book child-friendly hotels suited to your trip with children.

I'm pregnant — can I still travel?

In principle, traveling is possible with an uncomplicated pregnancy up to week 34/35; the second trimester (weeks 14 to 28) is considered ideal. The exact rules vary by airline: many require a medical certificate of fitness to fly from week 28 onward, and most airlines decline to carry passengers from week 36 onward. Feel free to reach out — we'll check individually for your airline and route how your desired trip can be arranged.

SAFETY

Is there an emergency number during the trip?

Yes. We're available around the clock and here for you should anything not go according to plan during your trip.
